Magical.
Sparks contagious laughs.
Transcendent.
Dancing, laughter, the spiritual life of dinner plates.
Visionary.
If the end of the world (really, the beginning) is anything AT ALL like Mr. Vigorito imagines it to be, I can't for it to come.
Read it and dance…
So reads the back cover of Just A Couple of Days by Tony Vigorito. Having only just completed it (finally!) this morning I can attest with utmost certainty that those elated readers and their descriptive praises are right on the money with this one.
I actually picked the book up well over a month ago. Due to a series of unfortunate events, completely unrelated to Lemony Snicket, I had to return the book the library only 3/4 the way through. Letting go of it as it desecended into the drop box with a thud was one of the darkest days of my summer. I loved this book and I loved reading it, but for the life of me I could not get to the end uninterrupted. I checked it out again last week and only got to begin reading again yesterday, closing with the orgasmic finish just moments ago.
To add my adjectives to the list I will say that it is philosophical, hilarious, eye-opening, mesmerizing, vastly intelligent, scary, and intriguing. I could, of course, go on at length with how I really feel, but it would only be a redundant summary...
The power of language, philosophy, God, human stupidity, government conspiracy and Zen freedom has never been so intimately interlaced with such amusement.
And you can quote me on that.
I think it's sheer unadulterated genius. And I really think you should read it too so that we can share in the merriment and to all those who mock, we will shout GARDYLOO!”
